Melissa graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (2006) followed by a clinical Master of Science in Physical Therapy (2007) at Queen’s University. She has extensive experience working in both in-patient and out-patient settings in rehabilitation of patients following orthopaedic surgery, and other injuries.
Melissa is dedicated to ongoing professional development and has completed extensive post-graduate training in integrated manual therapy, including Mulligan Concepts, the McKenzie Method, and Concussion management. She has completed advanced acupuncture and dry needling training for pain management in orthopaedic conditions and has her CAFCI designation. In 2017 she achieved Fellowship status in the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT).
Melissa has a special interest in the field of Women’s Health. She has completed courses on pelvic health, diastasis recti and is certified to deliver the Röst Therapy method of relieving pelvic girdle pain during and after pregnancy. Another special area of interest is in Seniors Health. She has a Bone Fit™ certification from Osteoporosis Canada. She is also certified to deliver the GLA:D™ Canada program for people with hip and knee osteoarthritis.
Melissa utilizes a combination of manual therapy, acupuncture, personalized exercise therapy and education to assist clients in recovery. She believes in living an active lifestyle, personally enjoying skiing, running, playing squash and tennis.
