Joining East Toronto Orthopaedic and Sports Injury Clinic in 2004, Mia has over 35 years of experience practicing physiotherapy. A graduate of the University of Toronto, she also has extensive post graduate training in manual therapy, exercise therapy and ConnectTherapy™. Mia holds certifications in acupuncture from MacMaster university, as well as GLA:D™ and Bonefit™.
Mia teaches other Canadian healthcare professionals about the GLA:D™ program and was instrumental in bringing the program to the clinic.
Her approach to treatment is multifaceted focusing on education, home based exercises, manual therapy, and other modalities as indicated. She observes postures and movement patterns to best develop individualized exercise plans for the optimization of movement and health for patients of all ages.
She has a special interest in treating osteoarthritis, helping people to manage and understand their condition and how to improve: whether that is after a joint replacement or in trying to avoid a joint replacement.
Outside of work, Mia enjoys running, downhill and cross-country skiing, swimming, kayaking, and curling.
